The project of interactive theatre performance Better Field is based on the concept of video-game simulation. The aim of the “game” - actually a play created through a theatre process with children - is to bring closer the idea of the creation of the society/world based on the law, democracy and human rights - through the concept of a videogame. Each scene ends in the audience voting on the raised issue. The votes will determine the shape of the world, or the society built on stage.
The performance Better Field or Playing Re:Public is created within the project “Democracy and Puppetry”, realized with the support by the EU Erasmus+ programme. In Serbia, the programme was carried out by Little Theatre “Duško Radović”, “Ilija Birčanin” elementary school, and the organization “ApsArt”. The running time of the performance is 45min, and is followed by a 30min workshop, in which the audiences and the participants of the drama process take part. The topic of the workshop is Where Is Your (Better) Field of Expertise?
Better Field or Playing Re:Public is the „focus performance“ at Bitef Polyphony and a stimulation for a dialogue on openness and democratic nature of theatre for children and young people, alongside the discovery of polyphony concepts and the possibility of creating specific “side programmes” which could, in combination with the performance, become a part of the theatre repertoire.
