Marina Davydova's Speech at 56th Bitef Opening Ceremony

On February 24, Russia attacked not only Ukraine but also declared war on its own culture, said Marina Davydova in her speech during 56th Bitef Opening Ceremony.

The 56th Bitef Is Officialy Open

On Sunday, 25th September, the 56th Bitef was opened under the slogan “We – the Heroes of Our Own Labour“, with the performance “any attempt will end in crushed bodies and shattered bones“ from Antwerp (Belgium), choreographed by Jan Martens.

More Than 500 Foreign Guests in 56th Bitef

The third regular press conference announcing 56th Bitef was held in Belgrade. The festival will be held from September 23rd to October 2nd.

World Hits and Local Breakthroughs In 56th Bitef

The audiences have shown the greatest interest in the international festival hit Love by Alexander Zeldin and there are only few tickets left for domestic performances “World Without Women“ by Maja Pelević and Olga Dimitrijević and “Dr Ausländer (Made for Germany)“ by Bojan Đorđev.

56Bitef22: Theatre plays featuring workers from all around the world

The slogan of the festival is “We - The Heroes Of Our Own Labour“, to shed light on the topic which is the focus of this year's festival. Bitef will tackle the issue of work in modern society, labor rights, the labor market after the pandemic, but also the issue of work in the actual performing arts.

The audiences will have an opportunity to enjoy the performances by the stars of this festival edition at the very beginning: “(Not) the End of the World“ by the most famous theatre director in the world, Katie Mitchell, and “any attempt will end in crushed bodies and shattered bones“ by Belgian choreographer Jan Martens.

After the London National Theatre, Paris Odéon-Théâtre, Schaubühne Berlin, and Wiener Festwochen, Bitef too will have the pleasure to show one of the most wanted productions in the world, Love by Alexander Zeldin, after which the BBC produced a movie of the same name.
